It is with great sadness that I have received the news that George D. Rodger, vegan pioneer from Scotland, passed away in Abderdeen yesterday afternoon, Monday, 27 April 2026.
He was 85 years old. He was born in 1940.

Pat Whyte has told me that in 2002 George founded a monthly vegan lunch in Aberdeen. When George turned 80, in 2020, he decided to hand the organisation of the meals over, but George kept attending almost all of the events, usually wearing his wonderful Scottish kilt.
